Located in the heart of the baroque old town in Solothurn, the 4-star boutique hotel La Couronne Hotel Restaurant reopened on 2 May 2017 following extensive renovations. Its illustrious history has been given a contemporary touch and personal flair with all the finest comforts of a 4-star hotel. The historical building combines the history of Switzerland's second oldest hotel with the charm of a boutique hotel, regardless of whether you’re travelling for business or pleasure. La Couronne is home to 37 elegantly designed rooms, a cosy restaurant serving a modern take on classic French dishes, a relaxed Bar à Vin and a large function room with views over the cathedral.
One of Switzerland’s oldest guest houses
The area surrounding La Couronne and the Krone Hotel has provided the setting for countless stories over the past 500 years. «It is on record as Switzerland’s second oldest guest house and intrinsically tied to the history of Solothurn, known by many as the ambassador’s city. As a social and political hub, it often played an important role», explained the Solothurner Zeitung newspaper in a two-part series about the former Hotel Krone and the present La Couronne. In the past, the hotel has been home to many illustrious guests such as Casanova, Napoleon, Jane Fonda and Sophia Loren.
